Normal Shapes4-6,12,13
Designed to replicate the shapes found in the normal, healthy knee. These unique shapes include:
- Asymmetric femur/tibia4-6,12,13
- Convex lateral surface of tibia4,5,12

Bi-cruciate retaining (BCR) knees have been designed since the very early days of orthopaedics. Even in those early days, surgeons and manufacturers recognised the importance of ACL function to kinematics, proprioception and stability.
The JOURNEY II XR System is designed with the knowledge and learnings of past BCR knee designs, while improving upon early concepts through the principles of anatomic knee design,1-5 improved instrumentation and technique, and advanced bearing materials.
Designed to replicate the shapes found in the normal, healthy knee. These unique shapes include:
Designed to restore the mid-line A/P position and 3° varus joint-line found in the normal healthy knee. The replication of these positions:
Combining normal shapes and positions allows JOURNEY II XR System to mimic the motion found in the normal knee and allows patients to maintain more normal muscle activation and proprioception throughout the range of motion.15,16
The tibia baseplate has been designed to match the anatomic perimeter profile of the GENESIS II tibia baseplate, with the addition of a continuous keel and anterior bridge in order to optimise fixation and strength in a bi-cruciate retaining knee design.
